What a wonderful place and the point of view is an excellent choice, it flows through the image well.

Good monochrome interpretation that exaggerates the the emptiness of the scene.

  • Bob Towery on 25.01.2010 @ 17:12

Venice pictures often have such a timeless quality, this one sure does. Could have been taken any time in the past several decades. Love the B&W, and I especially like the curve of the buildings on left that you incorporated.

nice vintage look .. back in the fifty's

  • Chris on 25.01.2010 @ 20:39

For me the monochrome doesn't exaggerate the emptiness of the scene, but rather strips it back to its bare fundamentals. The old architecture, the ancient canal, the very idea of a 'dying city'. Great work.

I know you call it high key, but I think it ruins the image a bit, I would really love to see a bit more detail in the sky and background, it would really add more atmosphere to this shot.
