View of Firenze (Florence), Italy from atop the Giotto's bell tower of the Cattedrale Santa Maria del Fiore (or simply the Florence Cathedral).
It was quite a workout to climb the 414 steps to the top of the tower, but the view and the experience from the top of the tower was breath-taking (causing me to tweet this from there.) I arrived at the top just in time to watch this magical sunset taking shape and clicked off about 50+ exposures. Loads more to come from this amazing place - both from outside to the inside.

Very nice picture, what an impressive sky!! claude @ 12-05-2009
Wow, great job with the lighting/exposure. The orange glow of the sun in the distance adds a ray of hope to this otherwise ominous image. Ryan Rahn @ 12-05-2009
And in 5 minutes storm is coming all over the city :)) MARIANA @ 12-05-2009
how weird all the building roofs are the same color... wonder what they are made of.... very cool shot!! Elaine- @ 12-05-2009
The photograph is superb. Colours are of the landscape and the sky is splendid. Very nice capture. Antoine @ 12-05-2009
very beautiful sight, awesome shot! rady @ 12-05-2009
how odd is it that when i read "firenze" it reminds me of fire.. similar to this fiery sunset that you captured, it's like a firestorm that falling down on the city.. very nice shot! :) rian @ 12-05-2009
This is wonderful, I really hope you got some SWEET HDR's while up there. justin van leeuwen @ 12-05-2009

What. The. Fuck. This is breathtaking. Vogelmann @ 12-06-2009
Those clouds combined with the light coming through them, makes me think of aliens on the way to take over this city ;-) Nice mood you have created here. Claus Petersen @ 12-06-2009
Sick shot mate, digg the clouds and sun contrast! Papigiulio @ 12-06-2009
Great job with the lighting/exposure.Bravo! THEYS @ 12-06-2009
I was looking at the same view last night - in a TV documentary about Italy. Just the usual Italian blue skies and nowhere nearly as good as this very atmospheric interpretation... george@minimalistics @ 12-06-2009
brings back memories this one, magical place. thanks for the flashback mate, look forward to some more ;)
all i need now is a flashforward sat infront of the tv watching the lottery numbers ;) paul @ 12-06-2009

Amazing light. I like the dramatic sky with the touch of the warm tones of the setting sun. Well done. Csaba/EyeVision @ 12-06-2009

Amazing Faisal ... the dramatic sky makes a amazing mood Klaus @ 12-06-2009
Looks like it's laid out in squares. Not just the structures I mean, but the blocks. I'm not saying this right:-), of course a block is always a square, but this seems so defined. Anyway, beautiful capture. sherri @ 12-06-2009
What a spectacular shot. Great city, for sure. But man, that is a lot of steps. Good for you for making that climb! Bob Towery @ 12-06-2009
As the Italians would say, "Multo buono". I would have done the same given a view like that, was it dark by the time you were done? :-) Nick Lewis @ 12-07-2009
Wow....this is really amazing. Is it a sunrise or sunset? I really like the two different tones on both side. One Warm and one cool....Grt capture. Sunil @ 12-10-2009
